Good Morning: Breakfast Recipes

What makes a good morning?

For celebrated chef and restaurateur Tom Hishon, it might begin with a simple fried egg, a slab of toast, a still-warm muffin or a frittata thrown together with garden greens and shared with friends.

Drawing on experience and recipes collected across Tom's high-profile career (Daily Bread, Orphans Kitchen, Kingi), this book is for anyone who has ever queued for their favourite bread, struggled to choose only one item from the brunch menu, loves a noisy, sticky breakfast table or cherishes the ritual of a cup of coffee before anyone else is up.

From matcha bircher to kumara tortillas, courgette frittata to Southland cheese rolls, Good Morning invites you to take a moment to enjoy the first and best meal of the day.

'Creative yet achievable recipes that make everyday breakfasts feel special.' - Nadia Lim

'This is a book you'll definitely cook from. Tom's focus on healthy seasonal ingredients, cooked simply - sometimes lush - will have you reaching for the eggs, bread, smoked fish and greens and knocking up a delicious spread for those you love. Mornings will never be the same again!' - Peter Gordon

'It's the first meal of the day, and yet, how often do we plan ahead to make it special? Good Morning reminds us that breakfast deserves its time in the sun, with dappled light and beautiful dishes - most simple enough for anyone to make, with the odd challenge for adventurous cooks - and encourages us to take time for those quiet moments and prep ahead for busier mornings.' - Alice Zaslavsky
