River Monster #2 Pipi and Pou

The start of a new beginner chapter book series designed for readers 6 - 8 years old. Each adventure features two cousins who transform into superheroes to solve a problem, under the watchful eye of their very wise Nana. Pipi is a Pouakai, a giant eagle, while Pou is a Taniwha. Each story is 8 chapters long and features two or more illustrations per chapter. The format is slightly larger at 198mm high and 143mm wide. These stories are designed to have instant appeal to younger readers who are wanting to progress from picture books to read real books. Tim Waitai-Tipene, (Ngati Kuri/Ngati Whatua) - was adopted into the Waitai-Tipene whanau as a toddler. He was raised in two cultures, NZ Maori and NZ European. First published in 1996 Tim is now the author of more than thirteen books, five of which have won awards. Isobel Te Aho-White, (Ngati Kahungunu/Ngai Tahu) - a very popular illustrator based in Wellington. "My personal artwork is definitely about connecting people with each other and with nature ... uplifting people, especially young women," Izzy remarks.
